Windows captures the call’s audio directly. On a Mac, the other side needs a virtual audio device such as BlackHole; without one, Koanshell hears only your mic.

Koanshell keeps a smaller on-screen footprint. During a live meeting, its window passes clicks through and its background shortcuts stay available. Its process name remains visible, and screen capture behavior depends on your system and capture method.
From app startup, Koanshell hides its Dock or taskbar icon and activity indicator, and stays out of Command+Tab, Alt+Tab and window switchers. Its process name remains visible in Activity Monitor on Mac and Task Manager on Windows.
Clicks go to the app below Koanshell, and the pointer keeps its usual shape. Press Command+Shift+K on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+K on Windows to interact with Koanshell, use Stop or retry saving an unsaved session. Press the shortcut again to restore click-through.
With Koanshell in the background during a live meeting, Command+Shift+Z on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+Z on Windows answers. The matching Command/Ctrl+Shift+X shortcut asks about the screen. Bare z, x and c work when the Koanshell window is focused.
Koanshell asks the operating system to exclude its window from captures made by other apps. On modern macOS with ScreenCaptureKit, this is best-effort, not guaranteed; behavior varies by OS and capture method, so check the share preview.

macOS 15 or later: open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down to Security, and click Open Anyway next to Koanshell. Confirm with your password or Touch ID.
macOS 12 to 14: Control-click Koanshell in Applications, choose Open, then click Open again.
You only do this once. After an update, macOS may ask again the first time — it’s a fresh copy to it. If it keeps asking on every launch, open Terminal and run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Koanshell.app, then reopen Koanshell.
Only download Koanshell from this site or its GitHub releases page. Koanshell tells you when an update is out and opens that page; it never installs anything by itself.
It doesn’t plug into any of them. Koanshell listens to your microphone and, where it’s set up, your computer’s audio, so it works next to whichever call app you use.

Yes. Transcripts, summaries and answers are generated automatically and can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important before you rely on it.
